I want to set a strategy
Making money from a sustainable business does not have to be complicated. The following six steps should see you safely home:
Consider your business model
When rethinking your business it is natural to focus on the product or service that you supply to your customers. But it can often also be a good idea to look at your actual business model: How do we sell our product? And how do we make our money?
Prepare for obstacles
If you pursue a strategy based on sustainability, do not be surprised if you encounter obstacles both internally and in the market.
Developing new and sustainable products can take time, and it is not guaranteed that management will have the necessary patience. It is therefore important that management is, and remains, behind the decision to develop products along more sustainable lines.
If management is not quite ready to put money into a long-term development project, it might be a good idea to start small. If, for example, your products are packaged, you could start by improving your packaging.
If you are prepared for potential obstacles right from the start, it will be easier to deal with them if and when you encounter them.
Three out of four small and medium sized enterprises in Denmark work with Corporate Social Responsibility in one way or another - but only one out of three have incorporated this into their general strategy.
